Survey camp was organised by Department of civil engg at ycet,Jammu for two weeks in the campus and Roopnagar, Jammu.The camp is very essential for civil engineering students, provided practical experience in land surveying techniques. During this camp, s

tudents typically engaged in various activities, such as:

Field Surveys: Students conduct leveling, traversing, and mapping exercises using instruments like total stations, theodolites, and GPS.

Data Collection: Students gathered data for topographical maps, which involves measuring distances, angles, and elevations.

Teamwork and Collaboration: Working in group helps students to develop teamwork and communication skills, crucial for future engineering projects.

Problem Solving: Students encountered real-world challenges that require critical thinking and adaptability.

Reporting: After collecting data, students prepared report and presentation, reinforcing their understanding of the surveying process and its applications in civil engineering.

Overall, survey camp enhanced theoretical knowledge and provided hands-on experience vital for their professional development.

YCET Conducted National Workshop by IIT Bombay
Yogananda College of Engineering and Technology [YCET] organized the National Workshop on “Awareness of Spoken Tutorial, IIT Bombay and career prospects”.
The event was graced by the presence of Mrs. Akanksha Saini, National Cordinator, Spoken tutorial, IIT Bombay. Various Institutes were invited for the workshop among them were IMS, UIET, MBSCET etc. The faculty members and students from these institutes witnessed the occasion.
Mrs. Akanksha Saini National Cordinator, Spoken tutorial, IIT Bombay graced the stage and addressed the audience. She quoted Nelson Mandela’s saying “Education is the most powerful weapon which can be used to change the world”. She further added that our world is changing rapidly, it is essential to move ahead with that pace for that we have to think outside the box. One should work as part of a team while having ability to solve problems, having good people in skills and critical thinking. She gave detailed presentation on 21st century learning design and revealed that spoken tutorial IIT, Bombay is offering 75 courses and had trained 80 lakh people across the country in 22 recognized languages. At the end she summed up by giving insights by showing rainbow arch and support system.

Being a part of interactive learning, such educational visits give students a major exposure to real working environments along with a practical perspective of a theoretical concept relevant to their domain.In addition to that,Industrial visits bridge the widening gap between theoretical learning and practical exposure by giving students the first hand exposure to identify the inputs and outputs for different approaches and technical know how at the work place.. Er.Shivam Sharma, Asst Professors, Department of  Civil engineeringand  Er Rajnish Magotra, HOD ( Civil Engineering ) planned and accompanied the students during one day  visit toBuilding Centre and Jammu Development Agency Flats,Muthi,Jammu.During the visit,Director Building Centre Ar.Harinder Singh interacted with students and faculty and gave presentation about building materials and use of appropriate technology  Er.B R Verma,Chief Coordinator, and Er Dinesh Gupta, Dean (Academics) encouragedthe department for arranging field visits for practical exposures.

The students interacted with the Mr.Rinku Bhatsite Engineer of Building Centre anddiscussed the aspects of engineering approach about concrete mix design.Besides this visit,students  visited JDA Flats,there Sh Sanjay Anand,Aee and Er Sahil  J.E explained in detail about the foundation laid for towers,they are 16 in numbers accommodating 144 families. The towers are G+11, having facility of 2BHK, 3BHK and 5BHK. This interaction created an enthusiasm among students and boosted their confidence.The management appreciated the efforts of the department for such visits and made compulsory for every department to initiate more and more visits for making our students employable in this competitive world.

ErRajnish Magotra, HOD (Civil Engineering Department,YCET)) briefed about the latest technologies established at CIIITwith the aim of up-skilling & enhancing employability of Engineering students to the latest trends by imparting skill training on the latest technologies with the help of faculty from TATA Technologies that will certainly bridge the gap between Industry and Academia. During interaction experts discussed about Value Engineering, IoT, Critical thinking/writing and live product design ofprogram me commenced with the kind projects to meet the demand of consumers and the market. The session ended with fruitful discussions and comprehensive exposure with Industry experts.

The Visit was made possible because of the dedication and able guidance of Er. Ritu Jamwal ,Principal Govt Polytechnic,Jammu.Er.Kuldeep Singh Bhatia (HoD,Mechanical Engg,Jammu), Er.Sukhdeep Singh (HoD,Civil Engg,Jammu)Er Sunil (Tata Technologies,CIIIT). The students were enriched by this visit.

ErVidhi.S.Singh, Chairman(JGEI),Th SDS Jamwal, Vice-Chairman(JGEI), ErRenuBangroo,Managing Director (JGEI) congratulated the department for such initiative and said that such visits should be a continuous practice. Er B R Verma,Chief Coordinator and Er Dinesh Gupta, Dean Academics also complimented the department for such visit.
