Yogananda College of Engineering & Technology (YCET) celebrated the 10th International Day of Yoga on June 21, 2024, under the theme “Yoga for Self and Society.” This celebration emphasized the transformative practice of yoga, which harmonizes the mind and body, balances thought and action, and unites restraint and fulfillment.

Originating from India, the word “yoga” means ‘to join or unite’ in Sanskrit, symbolizing the practice’s role in enhancing physical and mental well-being. The event saw enthusiastic participation from YCET’s management and staff, who engaged in various yoga asanas and pranayama exercises across the campus.

Er. K.R Sharma, speaking on the occasion, stressed the importance of yoga for maintaining a balanced lifestyle and effectively managing stress, especially in today’s fast-paced world

The session began with welcome address by Er. Loveneesh Talwar, HOD ( Electrical Engineering ). Er. Dinesh Gupta, President IIC Cell briefed about IIC Cell.
Dr. M. Marsaline Beno, Professor & Vice Principal, Innovation Ambassador & IIC President, St. Xaviers Catholic College of Engineering, Nagercoil, Kanayakumari explained the importance of entrepreneurship. Dr. M. Marsaline Beno made aware the students about pervasive technologies i.e. computing, communicating & controlling. He briefed students about Industry 4.0, time to reach 100 million customers, product life cycle and also explained the Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I&E) Ecosystem etc. The students were fortunate to have got the chance to attend this session for increasing their knowledge and creative extravagance along with the expert. The guests remained highly commemorative of the efforts for organizing session.

Prof. ( Dr. ) A. K. Srivastava, Director, YCET appreciated the efforts of Electrical & CSE / IT Department and motivated the students to start their own industries and become job giver instead of job seeker. He said that such session will be very helpful to the students. The session was coordinated by Er. Robin Kumar ( Coordinator ) of CSE department who also gave a formal vote of thanks.

The Civil Engineering Department of Yogananda College of Engineering and technology in collaboration with JK Cement and Ultratech Cement organized 3- Day Concrete Conclave on “Advancement in Concrete Technology” which were concluded yesterday. The main objective of this workshop to make participants familiar with the recent trends in advancement of concrete technology. Many Intellectuals from all over the country participated actively in this conclave. The resource persons were Er. Shwetha KG, Associate Professor, NMIT, Bengaluru and Prof. Mahesh Kumar CL, NMIT, Bengaluru. In this session, intellectuals from all over the country participated. The session started with the welcome address by Er. Rajnish Magotra, HOD Civil Engineering Department. He thanked all the participants, resource persons and special guests for their gracious presence. The introductory talk was given by Faizan Malik, student coordinator. The first session by chaired by Er. Shwetha KG. She addressed about “Application of Nano Concrete in Civil Engineering field”. She explains why we are using nanotechnology for concrete and what are its objectives and how this technology helps in improving materials bulk properties and which nano materials are used for this purpose. The next session was chaired by Prof. Mahesh Kumar CL and he addressed about “Role of Alternative materials in concrete for sustainable construction”. He explained how these alternative materials helps in technical, social, environmental and economic sustainability. Both the sessions are followed by Q&A sessions where the experts clear the doubts of the participants. The First day session was addressed by Mr. Vikas Malhotra, General Manager (J K Cements) on the Topic “Value Added Cement Products, The Day second was addressed by Mr. Vybhav Gupta, Regional Head Technical, Ultra tech Cements on topic “Hands on Concrete Mix. The sessions were very interactive and useful. (Dr). A.K. Srivastava, Director, YCET encouraged the efforts of Civil Engineering Department during these tough times and congratulate them for the grand success of this C-conclave and motivate them to organize such events in future also. E-Certificates were provided to all the participants. Coordinator Er. Kamal Kishore provided technical support and gave vote of thanks. The Management of YCET thanked all the participants, the resource persons and inspired the organizing team and appreciated the efforts for conducting online workshop during this pandemic period.

Energy conservation is the effort made to reduce the consumption of energy by using less of an energy service. This can be achieved either by using energy more efficiently or by reducing the amount of service used. Energy conservation is a part of the concept of Eco-sufficiency. Energy is of two types Conventional and Non-conventional but as the time passes by, the generation rate of electricity is very low compared to our consumption rate. Due to which we are focusing on non conventional resources. We can conserve energy by using two methods one is by reducing the use of energy efficient devices and secondly we can use energy optimum techniques to conserve energy. He also show one of his case studies in which he represents how to conserve energy in domestic sector by using 4 Energy Conservation Methods and what is its payback period.

In the end, Er. Loveneesh Talwar thanks Mr. P. Gowtham (A.P, EEE) for inviting him for giving him opportunity to deliver guest lecture. Overall the exposure to knowledge and modern trends proved many folds beneficial for him who took to this opportunity in the fullest and motivate other faculty to participate in such events. The Mechanical Engineering Department of Yogananda College of Engineering and Technology (YCET) under Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), a MHRD Initiative, Govt. of India, organizes a workshop on “Start up” on 10thNov. 2020. The objective of this workshop is that the students acquire necessary knowledge and skills required for organizing and carrying out entrepreneurial activities and to develop the ability of analyzing and understanding business situations in which entrepreneurs act and master the knowledge necessary to plan entrepreneurial activities.

The workshop has been conducted by Mr. Zubair Shah Koul, Assistant Faculty, JKEDI, Jammu. In this workshop 5th semester students from Civil Engineering & Mechanical Engineering participated. The resource person Mr. Zubair Shah Koul, Assistant faculty JKEDI, Jammu interacted with the participants. He was happy to note the enthusiasm shown by the students towards online session. He also appreciated the efforts and patience made by students at their level to be a part of this program till end. He laid stress that technical graduates must start their own ventures and instead of seeking jobs for themselves they should provide jobs to others. He gave examples of successful entrepreneurs (Engineering Graduates) who started their ventures in both the regions of Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasised that time has come that technical skill persons step forward in innovation and

business establishment and help others to earn their livelihood. He also explained all the schemes of Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute to the students. Many students cleared their doubts during the interactive session.
