Palm Island is a great innovative idea that came into reality. The Palm Islands are three artificial islands, Palm Jumeirah, Deira Island, and Palm Jebel Ali, on the coast of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Palm Islands are a major tourist destination within Dubai. The creation of the islands started in 2001. Palm Jumeirah is the site of numerous private residences and hotels. From the air, the archipelago resembles a stylized palm tree within a circle. Palm Jebel Ali is a similar archipelago with a larger palm tree, a larger crescent around it, and space between the crescent and the tree to dredge island boardwalks that circle the “fronds” of the palm.  The Deira Islands) are four undeveloped artificial islands off the coast of Deira, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The students were briefed about the Innovation technique adopted by the Engineers and technocrats who made this dream come true.  Prof Abhishek Arya explained the innovative methods used in the construction of islands in the easiest way so that each & every student can understand this great innovation. In the end, the vote of thanks was presented by Er.K.R. Sharma, senior faculty member of the Mechanical department.

IIC, Cell of YCET conducted 2nd MIC, driven activity “From your Ph.D./Masters Thesis to a start-up” by MoE- Ministry of Education in which Dr. Anand Deshpande was the resource person.

Session was Chaired by Prof Anil D. Sahasrabuddhe, Chairman,AICTE where as guest of honour was Dr. M. P. Poonia, Vice-chairman, AICTE.

All faculty members of YCET attended the session online.
Speaker emphasized that doing the research is the best first step toward to that mission. It intimidated one’s at first until he/she realized that doing this is like project management – only it’s managing a project with less partners and a smaller budget than one have experience in and that is one step forward to Start-up.

The Mechanical Engineering Department of Yogananda College of Engineering and Technology (YCET) under Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), a MHRD Initiative, Govt. of India, organizes a workshop on “Start up” on 10thNov. 2020. The objective of this workshop is that the students acquire necessary knowledge and skills required for organizing and carrying out entrepreneurial activities and to develop the ability of analyzing and understanding business situations in which entrepreneurs act and master the knowledge necessary to plan entrepreneurial activities.

The workshop has been conducted by Mr. Zubair Shah Koul, Assistant Faculty, JKEDI, Jammu. In this workshop 5th semester students from Civil Engineering & Mechanical Engineering participated. The resource person Mr. Zubair Shah Koul, Assistant faculty JKEDI, Jammu interacted with the participants. He was happy to note the enthusiasm shown by the students towards online session. He also appreciated the efforts and patience made by students at their level to be a part of this program till end. He laid stress that technical graduates must start their own ventures and instead of seeking jobs for themselves they should provide jobs to others. He gave examples of successful entrepreneurs (Engineering Graduates) who started their ventures in both the regions of Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasised that time has come that technical skill persons step forward in innovation and

business establishment and help others to earn their livelihood. He also explained all the schemes of Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute to the students. Many students cleared their doubts during the interactive session.

The Mechanical Engineering Department of Yogananda College of Engineering and Technology under it’s Institutions Innovation Council Cell, organizes a webinar on “My story-motivational session by successful entrepreneur” on 2nd Nov., 2020.

The main objective of this webinar was to create awareness among  final year students regarding options and opportunities to start up their own venture. The distinguished resource person was Er. Girish Parihar, Director, Polyskill Private Industrial Training Institute, Gurha Brahamana, Akhnoor, J&K.

In this webinar final year students from mechanical, civil, computer science & engineering and electrical engineering streams participated. This session  provided a platform to an in-depth discussion on the various challenges and possible remedies which will benefit and bring a positive transformation among the future entrepreneurs. Mr Girish Parihar laid emphasis to set a goal and to become a job creater than to become a job seeker.

To meet the challenges posed by COVID-19 and minimize the impact of pandemic on academic activities Prof. ( Dr.) A. K. Srivastava, Director, YCET conceived the idea of four days Faculty Development Programme on ETME for sharing the best practices of ETME and capacity building of all faculty members across the country. This FDP was fourth of its kind in the series during lockdown and was conducted using Google Meet.

The welcome address was given by Er. Kuldip Raj Sharma, HOD, Mechanical Engineering Department and also the convenor of  FDP. He thanked all the participants and resource persons for their gracious presence. The introductory talk was given by Coordinator Er. Arjun Singh.

On 24^th July, 2020 the session was chaired by Dr. ( Md. ) Asjad Mokhtar, Asst. Professor, Darbhanga College of Engineering, Darbhanga. He discussed about “Introduction to rotor dynamics and vibration measurement related to it”.

On 25^th July, 2020 the session was chaired by Dr. Ankush Anand, Professor, SMVDU, Kakaryal. He addressed about “Essentials of sustainable design”.

On 26^th July, 2020 the session was chaired by Dr. Sunil Shankar Waddar, Associate Professor, MVJ College of Engineering, Bangalore. He addressed about “Advanced Lightweight Composites”.

On 27^th July, 2020 the session was chaired by Dr. B. Satyasekhar, Asst. Professor, IIT Jammu. He delivered lecture about “Solar Thermal Energy Technologies”. Co-Convenor Neeraj Pandita facilitated question-answer round and took the valuable feedback from participants after the session was completed successfully.

All the sessions were very interactive and useful. E-Certificates were provided to all the participants. Coordinator Er. Arjun Singh provided technical support and gave vote of thanks. The management of YCET thanked the resource persons and inspired the organising team and appreciated the efforts for conducting online Faculty Development Programmes during lockdown period.
