YCET organizes webinar on Air Pollution &Its Control Measures”

 

JAMMU, Jan. 15, 2022: The Department of Civil Engineering, Yogananda College of Engineering & Technology ( YCET )organized a webinar on “Air Pollution &Its Control Measures “on15th January 2022 In connection with Pollution Control Day for Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering students.

The session began with a welcome address by Er Rajnish Magotra, HOD (Civil Engineering.), and Er. Dinesh Gupta, Dean (Academics) & President IIC, YCET briefed about IIC Cell. The program commenced with the kind words of Prof. (Dr) A. K. Srivastava, Director, YCET, who motivated the students and said that India is becoming a Global Leader in solving Problems on an International platform.

The resource person Prof Mahesh C L, assistant professor and Innovation Ambassador at NITTE Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, Karnataka. He enlightened the students and faculty about the objectives of Such Webinarsand disclosed that 92 percent of Asia and Pacific’s population are exposed to levels of air pollution that pose a significant risk to their health. He told that in the present scenario, there are many steps initiated by the Government of India for controlling air pollution like providing clean energy for households, improving public transport and promoting the use of electric vehicles, using renewable energy for electrical generation, and working with oil and gas companies to stop flaring and reduce methane leaks. Nowadays the Air Quality Index of major cities in India is being monitored after those appropriate measures are being taken.

The lecture increased the length and breadth of knowledge. He said that in-depth knowledge of Various Pollutions especially Air Pollution is the need of the hour. The students really got enriched & benefitted by this interactive session. The whole program was coordinated by Er. Shivam Sharma and a vote of thanks was given by Er. Yasar Mumtaz Banday.
